We frequently reference “search engine friendly” web design or websites, but what does that mean?
What it means is that a website has been designed to meet guidelines established by the major search engines like Google, Bing and Yandex, which enables their digital bots to “easily” crawl the website. If a search engine cannot properly interpret your website code, they cannot index the website preventing it from being shown in search results.
Search engines are similar to a filing cabinet. If you never add a file to the cabinet, another staff members goes to the filing cabinet looking for a file that has not yet been placed will not be found. The file has to be added to the cabinet in order for staff to find the file.
Indexing a website is much same process. When a new website is launched, it must be properly indexed with the search engines or how will Google know that you launched a new website when there are an estimated 1B websites online. Many web designers do not know this, some assume that the search engines will find it, which is not wrong, but they will only find the pages that are properly linked externally and internally. To assure that a website is shown in search results, be sure to have it properly indexed and upload your sitemap to all three major search engines including, Google, Bing and Yandex.
